Who we are
Change of Perspective CIC is a Black-led research and capacity-building organisation committed to strengthening research leadership, evidence infrastructure, and institutional influence among Black professionals and Black-led initiatives across the UK. We exist to address structural inequities within research ecosystems by ensuring that Black expertise shapes research agendas, methodologies, and decision-making processes.
Our mission is to build sustainable pathways into research careers for Black professionals, particularly those operating at the intersection of sport, education, and social justice. We do this by embedding mentorship, methodological training, and co-production within applied research projects; supporting Black-led organisations to develop robust evaluation, data governance, and research literacy systems; and fostering collaborative networks that reduce isolation and increase collective influence.
We believe that systemic change in research culture requires more than representation. It requires leadership development, governance strengthening, and the redistribution of research power. Through structured capacity-building programmes, peer learning spaces, and strategic partnerships, we aim to increase Black authorship, enhance organisational resilience, and enable Black-led initiatives to engage confidently and critically with research institutions.
Our long-term vision is a research ecosystem in which Black-led knowledge production is recognised, resourced, and structurally embedded within national research culture
